Congratulations Bayer Indonesia, one of IPMG member companies, to have reinforced its commitment to Indonesia's climate goals by inaugurating the country's largest rooftop solar power system in the multinational pharmaceutical sector at its Cimanggis plant, Depok, West Java. Utilizing 3,770 photovoltaic modules, this solar power installation generates 2,054 kWp, will eliminate carbon emissions by 2,073 metric tons annually, equivalent to planting 95,000 trees or removing 450 cars from the road.
Florian Zirnstein, Director of Bayer Indonesia said, “This marks a major step toward Bayer’s global target of 100% renewable energy by 2030,” said. “Strong government support is key for Indonesia to achieve a full renewable energy transition.”
The project aligns with Bayer's carbon neutrality goals by 2030 and supports Indonesia's target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 31.89% by 2030. This solar panel plant supplies 43% of the Cimanggis plant’s power installed capacity and will reduce annual energy consumption by 20%. This effort is demonstrating how renewable energy can power large-scale operations sustainably.
As a strategic hub exporting to over 22 countries, the Cimanggis facility highlights Bayer’s leadership in green manufacturing and its commitment to a low-carbon future in Indonesia.
